Your consumer unit — often called a fuse box — is the heart of your electrical system, keeping your property safe, compliant, and running smoothly. Whether you need a single-phase unit for a domestic property or a three-phase system for a larger home, workshop, or commercial premises, Power Team Electrics can design and install a setup that fits your exact needs.

WHEN YOU MIGHT NEED A NEW CONSUMER UNIT

You may require a replacement or upgrade if:

  • You’re adding new electrical circuits, such as EV chargers, garden lighting, or air conditioning.

  • Your current fuse box is old or outdated and lacks modern safety features.

  • Your consumer unit is plastic, which can pose a fire risk under heavy load.

  • You need to upgrade to a three-phase system to support higher electrical demand safely and efficiently.

A new consumer unit installation brings your electrics up to the latest standards, with modern RCBO

protection for each circuit and metal construction for superior fire safety.

MODERN CIRCUIT PROTECTION

At Power Team Electrics, every new consumer unit we install uses RCBO protection as standard.
This means each circuit is individually protected — if one circuit develops a fault, only that circuit trips, not your entire home or business.

Older and cheaper setups use a few RCDs to protect multiple circuits together. While that was acceptable years ago, it often leads to unnecessary power loss across the whole property if a single circuit develops a minor fault.
With RCBOs, you get modern reliability, minimal disruption, and safer fault isolation.

  • Single-phase boards: Compact, efficient, and ideal for most homes.

  • Three-phase boards: Perfect for properties or businesses with heavier electrical loads, providing smooth, balanced power distribution and robust safety.

All installations are tested and certified, giving you complete peace of mind that your electrics are safe, reliable, and future-proof.

WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW

Every installation is unique. To prepare an accurate quotation, we’ll ask:

  • How many circuits your installation has, so we can size the board correctly.

  • Any special building requirements — for example, properties over 18 metres tall require enhanced fire-safety circuit breakers.

We’ve made it easy: simply fill out our online form with these details. Our system will automatically generate an instant estimate in principle for your job.

INSTANT, TRANSPARENT QUOTES

We know how important fast communication is. That’s why we aim to provide instant quotes wherever possible.
While our automatic estimates are designed to be as accurate as possible, your final price may vary slightly depending on the bespoke details of your installation.
